CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Drone operators can meet new federal rules regarding handling these unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) through a new certificate program at Parkland College starting this fall.

The six-semester-hour program prepares students to be certified under Federal Aviation Administration requirements to be a commercial UAS operator. Students will learn the history and evolution of UAS, FAA regulations, airspace, weather, and UAS types and performance, as well as safety and ethical issues. They will also become proficient at UAS operations.
